The Office of Diversity and Multicultural Education at Hampshire College is excited to invite you to a /Race Matters /Lecture given by Dr. Christine Sleeter on Wednesday, November 19th at 5:30pm in the Main Lecture Hall, Franklin Patterson Hall, Hampshire College. Sleeter is an international reknowned scholar of Anti-Racist Multicultural Education and she will be speaking on /Critical Family History as a Tool for Confronting Today's Social Justice Issues.  

Christine Sleeter is Professor Emerita at California State University, Monterey Bay. She is the Immediate Past President of the National Association for Multicultural Education and recipient of the American Educational Research Association Social Justice in Education Award. Sleeter's most recent books include: /Power, Teaching and Teacher Education/ (Peter Lang, 2013), /Professional Development for Culturally Responsive//and/ /Relationship-based Pedagogy /(Peter Lang, 2013), and /Creating Solidarity across Diverse Communities/ (with Encarnación Soriano, Teachers College Press, 2012).

QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in early childhood education.  Ideal candidates will possess expertise in a dedicated area related to the education of children between birth and 2nd grade.  A background in infant and toddler development, care, and education is a plus, but not required.  Candidates should supply evidence of an active research agenda, scholarly productivity, and other professional achievements relative to rank and experience.  Evidence of success as a teacher educator at the college or university level is a must.  Prior classroom teaching at the early childhood level is preferred.
