Department of Educational Leadership and Foundations Assistant or Associate Professor– Educational Leadership


POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Department of Educational Leadership and Foundations (EDFL) at The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) announces a faculty search for an Assistant or Associate Professor in Educational Leadership with an appointment to begin in Fall 2015. To enhance the curricular offerings and future research activities as well as grant funding initiatives, the Department is seeking an assistant or associate professor with demonstrated expertise as a school administrator or leadership professional involved in school, district, or program management. The successful candidate must demonstrate a high level of competence and sufficient experience to conduct research in the areas of instructional leadership, professional development, K-12 curriculum, and school-community dynamics. Strong consideration will be given to applicants who have content knowledge and leadership experience in school or school system administration. The candidate must also possess a record of academic publishing and presentations, and a research agenda with potential in obtaining grants.
The EDLF Department offers an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership and Administration, a master’s degree in Educational Administration, and principal and superintendent certifications. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants are required to have an Ed.D. or a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership, School Leadership, Educational Administration, or a closely related field. The ideal candidate must also show evidence of effective teaching, advising, and mentoring at the graduate level, possess a record of publications, have experience supervising students and doctoral dissertations, and a research agenda with potential for obtaining grants.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Desired qualifications include strong knowledge of content area and administrative experience in the school or central office settings.

SALARY: Salary is negotiable and commensurate with experience.

UTEP is completing a campus transformation, which includes more than $300 million in recent building expansions, renovations, infrastructure improvements, and pedestrian enhancements.

The College of Education currently enrolls 1,963 students at the undergraduate, master’s and doctoral levels. The new Dean is energizing the College with her vision to expand doctoral programs, enhance research productivity, increase funded projects, and develop budgetary proposals, policies, and strategies to build and improve the infrastructure and services provided to faculty and students in the College.
