Assistant Training Specialist, 103, full-time


The Project Associate will provide services in his/her special areas of expertise and experience. His/her responsibilities includes but will not be limited to:
  • Coordinate and collaborate effectively with the team members in a team-based
    approach to the organization’s learning and education policy work.
  • Serve as specialist on issues related to disproportionality in special education.
  • Disseminate timely, relevant information to schools, districts, and state education
    departments about quality instructional practices and related education reform
    issues. Respond to field questions on best practices.
  • Work with state agencies and other state and regional organizations to influence
    state policies on ensuring equity in race, national origin, and gender.
  • Attend and participate in a variety of school, district, state-level, and national
    meetings to represent the center’s positions.
  • Develop and implement training for schools, districts, and state education agencies.
  • Effectively participate in partnerships with external organizations (e.g. business, non-profits) in order to maximize the potential of achieving education reform goals for all students.
  • Assist in providing technical assistance (training and professional development) to schools and districts on various education topics.
    The Project Associate will be reporting to the assigned Project Director
    A Masters degree or higher in education. At least 4-5 years of experience working in schools. At least 1 year of experience providing technical assistance to schools and working with culturally linguistically diverse students. Substantive knowledge on NCLB, education reform, achievement gap research, English Language Learners, disproportionality in special education, race in schools, and gender equity. Teaching and coaching experience also desired. Strong written and oral communication skills. Computer skills in Excel and Powerpoint. Highly motivated, takes initiative. Willing to travel. Creative and independent thinker. Able to work under both pressure and time constraints. Able to make a 4-5-year commitment.
