Job Description
The Department of Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Houston (UH) seeks scholars at the academic rank of Associate or Full Professor to provide leadership to our new PhD. program that is focused on urban education.
The University of Houston is one of the most diverse universities in the country and is designated as a Hispanic serving and Asian serving institution. Priority areas of study for this position are expertise in quantitative methods, urban education, and willingness to provide leadership to the new PhD program. This is an exciting time at UH as we build on our status as a tier one research institution and a Carnegie-designated community engagement institution. With the addition of our new doctoral program, we hope to expand our impact and collaboration in the city of Houston which is the fourth largest and one of the most diverse cities in the country with a large international population. To this end, we value community engagement, diversity, student success, and a focus on social justice.
Responsibilities include leadership in the new PhD. program, conducting innovative quantitative research and publishing in national peer-reviewed journals; securing external funding; teaching quantitative graduate courses; mentoring students, chairing and serving on doctoral committees; active engagement with the Houston community; presenting research at professional meetings; and service to the Department, College, University, and the education profession.

Minimum Qualifications
Applicants for this position must hold a doctoral degree in Curriculum and Instruction or a closely related discipline. The successful candidate must demonstrate a record of innovative research published in peer-reviewed journals, emerging or sustained record of significant external funding, evidence of effective teaching ability, commitment to student success, and service to the profession. Candidates must have an academic record sufficient to obtain tenure at UH.
