Assistant/Associate Professors - Educational Leadership

The Education Department at the University of Michigan‑Flint is seeking to fill two positions in Educational Leadership at the Assistant or Associate Professor level.  We are looking for creative, visionary, and energetic faculty members for our innovative Education Specialist and Doctor of Education programs in Educational Leadership.  Responsibilities will include teaching (including teaching online, evenings, weekends, and at off-campus locations), collaborative program oversight, advising, research and publishing, and service to the university and community.

Requirements include an earned doctorate in educational leadership, educational administration, or closely related field; an established or emerging research agenda with evidence of successful scholarship; professional experiences in educational leadership; experience working with a variety of constituencies including administrators, teachers and community partners; and demonstrated understanding of theories of educational leadership as well as of trends and issues in curriculum and instruction. Substantial expertise with quantitative research methods is strongly desired. Candidates with university-level teaching experience and successful central office experience in P-12 school systems are preferred, as are candidates who are qualified to teach university courses in other education-related subject areas.

Assistant Professor – Early Childhood Education

The Education Department at the University of Michigan‑Flint is seeking to fill the position of Assistant Professor in Early Childhood Education.  We are looking for a creative, visionary, and energetic faculty member for our innovative programs in Early Childhood Education.  Responsibilities will include teaching (including teaching online, evenings, and off campus sites), collaborative program oversight, advising, research and publishing, and service to the university and community.

Expertise in early childhood mathematics, infants and toddlers, and other early childhood curricular content areas is strongly desired. The faculty member will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses.  Candidates with university-level teaching are preferred, as are candidates who are qualified to teach university courses in other education-related subject areas.

Assistant/Associate Professor of Mathematics Education

The Education Department at the University of Michigan-Flint is seeking to fill the position of Assistant/Associate Professor of Mathematics Education with expertise in elementary and early childhood mathematics.  UM-Flint is poised to be a national model for the mathematics teaching preparation of elementary and early childhood teachers as eight mathematics education courses are required of all candidates, well over the national average.

Requirements include an earned doctorate in mathematics education or a closely related field with university-level teaching and research experience.  Preference will be given to candidates with PreK-8 teaching experience, and to those who are qualified to teach in other education-related subject areas, as well as teaching online, evenings, and at off-campus sites.  Candidates are also expected to have a commitment to the educational aspirations of diverse students; knowledge of issues of multiculturism, diversity, and equity; and an interest in school partnerships and community initiatives.

The faculty member will teach undergraduate courses in elementary mathematics education; help develop a master’s degree in elementary mathematics; engage in service to the department, school, and university; and maintain an active agenda of scholarly activities and research.
