The Department of Leadership Studies (DLS) in the USF School of Education invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position, with the position commencing Fall 2015. DLS is dedicated to preparing transformative education leaders across K-20 who are committed to issues of equity and social justice in education and its community context. We seek candidates with expertise in the area of educational policy and law. The position would focus on policy and law development and implementation across the K-20 pipeline, with attention to the socio-cultural and historical context of how policies are developed and implemented, as well as the role of the community in shaping policy. The position would also focus on how law and policy intersect with issues of diversity and equity (e.g., language access,LGBTQ identities, disabilities, discipline, immigration status) as well as how they then impact different communities. 

Job Responsibilities: 
Responsibilities include teaching courses in educational policy and law as well as other courses in the various credential and graduate programs; conducting research and publishing scholarly work on education; supervising students on capstone projects, doctoral dissertations, and/or field placements; assisting with student recruitment, advising, and assessments; and contributing to program development and coordination, School of Education and university initiatives and mission, and partnerships with schools and communities. 

Minimum Qualifications: 
Qualifications include an earned doctorate in Educational Leadership, Educational Policy, or related field (candidates nearing the end of their doctorates may be considered); demonstrated record of scholarly achievement on educational policy and law, the politics of education, and the impact on communities; theoretical and practical expertise related to critical policy analysis, socio-political contexts of education, school-community relations, urban education, and studies in diversity and equity; experience with grassroots community organizations, community-based initiatives, and/or community-based schools; excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills; excellent higher education teaching experience or potential; experience working with diverse student populations; and a demonstrated commitment to educational equity and social justice. Preferred qualifications include policy and law development experience.
