*Graduate Student Event*

Dear UMass Graduate Student,
I am delighted to invite you to celebrate the beginning of the new academic year at a fall welcome reception on Tuesday, September 9th, from 4 PM to 6 PM in the atrium of the Integrated Sciences Building. Co-sponsored by the Graduate School and the Graduate Students of Color Association (GSCA), this informal event will afford you the opportunity to hear remarks by Provost Newman and me, learn about upcoming events sponsored by the GSCA, and mingle with other graduate students from across campus.  Pizza and soda will be served.

Please help us plan appropriately for the reception by emailing your RSVP to baronas@grad.umass.edu.

I strongly encourage you to get involved with GSCA, which was established in 2012 to foster a greater sense of community among UMass graduate students of color while contributing to their personal and professional development.

Questions about the GSCA can be directed to its leadership—Manisha Gupta, Leta Hooper, Tina Chen, Cassaundra Rodriguez, and Celeste Curington—at umassgsca@gmail.com. More information about this organization can also be found on its Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/UMassAmherstGSCA. And you can join the GSCA listserv by navigating here: https://list.umass.edu/mailman/listinfo/gsca-list.

I look forward to seeing you on September 9th.

Cordially,

John McCarthy
Vice-Provost for Graduate Education and
Dean of the Graduate School
