Assistant/Associate Professor in Educational Leadership


Description: Wright State University seeks highly qualified individuals to teach courses at the graduate and post-graduate in educational leadership programs and licensure programs for principals, curriculum specialists, and superintendents; mentor, supervise, and advise students. The position is a full time tenure-track faculty position at the advanced assistant or beginning associate level to begin September 1, 2015.

The U.S. News ranking in its Best Graduate Schools 2014 edition made Wright State’s College of Education and Human Services’ online program the top-ranked program in Ohio and ahead of well-known universities. U.S. News & World Report has ranked Wright State University’s online Master of Education degree in Curriculum & Instruction as No. 15 in the nation among online graduate education programs.
Currently the Educational Leadership Programs offer online programs: a Master of Education for Teacher Leaders, a Master of Education for Principals, an Education Specialist Degree for Curriculum and Instruction Specialists and an Education Specialist Degree for Superintendents.

In 2012, the department of Leadership Studies in Education and Organizations also started the Education Doctorate in Organizational Studies, which focuses on the preparation of scholar- practitioners committed to exploring and expanding research related to the practices and processes of organizations. Graduates will deepen their understanding related to leadership and change within organizations. The program will provide practice in organizations and in establishing networks for education, psychology, urban affairs, health and human services.

Responsibilities: Responsibilities beyond teaching include to: serve as a member or chair on thesis and dissertation committees; engage in scholarly research related to leadership in education; serve on department, college, and university committees as appropriate; assisting in planning and supporting student recruitment and alumni relations efforts; working collaboratively with colleagues to support the program; participate in program review and alignment with credentialing requirements.

Requirements: Applicants must hold doctorate by August 2015 in educational leadership, education administration, or closely related field; hold licensure as Principal or Superintendent; documented record of successful administrative experience; recorded active involvement in related professional associations; possess college teaching experience; and demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate.

The Associate Professor level also requires: a record of scholarly publications in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at professional conferences/venues, and curriculum development experience.
Preference will be given to candidates holding current Ohio Principal and Superintendent licenses, graduate level program leadership & program development, who have experienced faculty supervision, budget responsibilities, policy development, student recruitment, and thesis/dissertation supervision.

Applications should include a letter describing the candidate’s research interests, college online teaching experience, successful administrative experience and leadership background with principal, superintendent, and CIPD licenses; a curriculum vitae; copies of transcripts, and three letters of reference addressing qualifications relevant for the position. The Associate Professor level also requires copies of two relevant research papers and a record of advised thesis/dissertation.
