Literacy – Linguistic and Racial Diversity
Assistant Professor, tenure track
DEPARTMENT OF TEACHER EDUCATION College of Education, Health and Society

Duties: Teach courses in preK-12 literacy education and teaching methods. Conduct and publish research in the areas of literacy education and linguistic/racial diversity. Collaborate with faculty in developing and revising programs. Advise undergraduate and graduate students. Supervise graduate research. Provide service to the department, university, and the profession.

Required Qualifications: (a) Earned doctorate in Education, English, or cognate areas, with teaching and research emphasis in literacy for linguistic and racial diversity. ABDs will be considered, but the doctoral degree must be completed by the time of appointment. (b) Evidence of research, scholarship, and professional activity. (c) Three or more years of teaching experience in grades preK-12 or equivalent settings. (d) Experience working with diverse student populations (e.g., racial minority students, English language learners, students with special needs, urban and poor/working-class students).

Desired Qualifications: (a) Knowledge of processes and strategies for literacy instruction in elementary, middle, and/or secondary schools. (b) Ability to contribute to departmental initiatives, such as working with English language learners and integrating literacy and technology in the classroom. (c) Experience with online/hybrid teaching. (d) Experience with school and community partnerships.
