Position Summary:
The Department of Learning and Instruction in the Graduate School of Education at the University at Buffalo (UB), The State University of New York seeks a scholar in Early Childhood Development and Education for a tenure-track position. Candidates will be considered at the Associate/Full professor level.

The Early Childhood Education Program at UB has a long history of research excellence, and strong commitment to teaching and community engagement. It has been a growing area of teacher education. Its Fisher-Price endowed Early Childhood Research Center (ECRC) (http://ecrc.buffalo.edu/) provides rich research potential and opportunities.

The successful candidate must have an active research program in early childhood development and education, and a strong track record of publishing and securing external research funding. Although the specific area of research is open, we are particularly interested in candidates who are engaged in developmental research on one or more of the following topics:
• the intersection between mind, brain, behavior, and learning
• young children in urban settings, ethnic minority and/or immigrant families, or families
affected by disabilities
• social-emotional, behavioral, or cognitive development in early childhood
• early learning environments, both in the home and in child care settings
• early childhood education policy, intervention, or effectiveness research
• school readiness and the transition to elementary school

Preference will be given to candidates:
• whose research program can be integrated into our new program:
•or early childhood/childhood teacher education programs.

The candidate will teach courses on topics related to applied child development and research, and advice Masters and doctoral students. He or she will also be expected to teach in our teacher education program. We welcome candidates whose experience in teaching, research or community service has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to diversity and excellence.

Qualifications: An earned doctorate in Early Childhood Education, Developmental Psychology, Human Development, or a related field; record of research and scholarly publications consistent with the appointment level; and ability to teach and advise students at the graduate level. The successful candidate must have a strong research record, a willingness to continue generating external funding, and a strong commitment to teaching, community engagement, and professional service.
